(Well, okay, so this explains how I joined the clan, k? And no making fun cuz I was a kittypet! Or I'll claw your ears off! Sorry. But seriously!)
"Hey, Rose! Bet you can't do this!" My sister, Cherry, called as she stood on her head from our two-leg's sofa. I sighed. For the 100th time today.
"Why do you always like to challenge me?" I muttered.
"So you can't do that?" Her eyes widened in mock. "Wow. Sad."
I felt a growl rising in my throat. Stupid Cherry. She always thinks she's better just because she's older than me by like, a minute.
"Well, I bet you can't live out there-" she nodded to the view of the woods from the window. "-and catch your own food. I caught a bird once, you know!" Cherry boasted.
I sighed in annoyance. "I know, I know! I was there! I won't forget it if you bring it up ten times a day!"
One day, when our two-leg let us out of the fence, I had spotted a bird and had started stalking it. Cherry was laying in the sunlight, sunning herself. I was about to leap at it when I stepped on a twig.
It fluttered near Cherry, and frightened her. Cherry had flailed her paws wildly and had actually hit the bird on the side of the head and killed it. She's been talking about it ever since.
Cherry curled her lip. "You're just jealous! Like you could ever do it!"
That was it.
I leaped down from the sofa and pushed my way through the cat door flap, my fur sticking up.
The smirk left from Cherry's face, and was replaced by a surprised look."What, you're not actually gonna try-?"
"Watch me!" I snapped.
I was tired about her bragging about everything.
I stomped out of my two-leg's garden, my tail twitching furiously. Cherry called my name behind me. "Rose! Rose! Come back! I didn't mean it!"
I whipped around. "Oh, so, you didn't mean it? Then what did you mean?" She thinks I can't survive in the wild by myself? Well, I'll prove her wrong! I thought. I turned back around.
I heard Cherry whimper, but I didn't turn around.
I stalked into the woods, and a strong smell hit my nose.
I heard the splash of water, and rustles of leaves and tiny animal feet hitting the ground.
Perfect, I thought. I was always the best swimmer in the family. Not even Cherry could beat that.
I had never told anybody, but I had even caught a fish once, but anyone could have caught it.
When our two-leg took us to a stream, the place where our parents were buried, I...
I felt my eyes tearing up. I missed my parents. They had died when a huge two-leg monster had hit them when they had been brought to this place by our two-leg, and when we were just kits and had to stay in the monster.
Well, anyway, I spotted a trail of footsteps and followed the path until I got to a well-sheltered place. I heard voices of many cats. I knew, that this was the place I was meant to find.
